Diving into the deep blue

Tropical Toon Tuesday

Story by Zahra Zhan and Madeline Hensley

“It’s the best day ever!” as SpongeBob Square Pants would say. It is Homecoming week and school spirit is shining through a new day called Tropical Toons Tuesday. The purpose is for students to dress up as their favorite ocean themed cartoons.

The halls were full of the classic characters, SpongeBob, Patrick Star, Ariel, Dory, Lilo and Stitch.

“I like this spirit day because it gives people more of a chance to participate and everyone has their favorite cartoon character,” junior Sara Engert-Wexler said. “I have seen a lot of really creative costumes, especially SpongeBob.”

Participating and representing school pride is important to these Blue Jays.

“I think spirit day is fun because you get to see what other people are wearing and it’s a fun way to get involved in the school,” freshman Gabby Scott said.

Whether one decided to keep it simple or go above and beyond for their outfit, deciding which under the sea character to be was the biggest challenge.

“It wasn’t that hard to plan for this day,” freshman Elaina Blodgett said. “I had a pink shirt and some green shorts, so it was kind of easy. The hard part was mainly finding the character you want to be.”

It seems like spirit week is starting off right
