A Safe Way For Kids to Spend Halloween
Liberty High School offers an opportunity for young kids to have a safe Halloween experience.
Sometimes Halloween isn’t safe for little kids, it can be too scary and sometimes it’s just simply downright unsafe. At Liberty High School (LHS) there’s an opportunity for kids to have a fun and safe experience for Halloween.
Student Council hosts an event called Safe Halloween geared towards kids in third grade or younger. This event is on October 26 from 6-8pm in the Cokely gym. Entry is $3 or 3 non perishable items such as canned or boxed goods. Costumes are welcomed but can not be inappropriate and are encouraged to be not scary.
Student Council at LHS and Key Club at Discovery Middle School (DMS) host booths with games and candy for the kids to have a blast.
Safe Halloween is more than just an experience for kids though.
“It is also a fundraiser to help stock the pantry for Key Club’s Snack Pack program. In the last couple of years, we have provided enough donations and cash to sustain their program for three or more months!” Organizer of Safe Halloween, Kevin Berger, said.
This event is a fun time for the kids and the clubs running it.
“I love seeing the little kids go around and have fun with their families. I also love collaborating with the other clubs at the school, I just think it’s a really nice way for everyone to be involved in an event together,” Student Council member Delaney Harmon says.
A member of Key Club, freshmen Kaylen King is ready for this event for more reasons than one.
“I’m most excited for hanging out with my club because they are some really good people, and of course candy too.”
If you’re looking for a safe way for your child to spend Halloween then the high school’s Safe Halloween is the option for you.
