Tennis Fundraising

There are many ways to raise money for a club or team. Some sell things such as popcorn or coupons, while others may do raffles or giveaways. As for the men’s tennis team, they took on the challenge of parking thousands of cars at arrowhead stadium November 29. The team knew it would be a lot of work, but with the unpredictable addition of bad weather, the experience was far from enjoyable.
The team was up bright and early as they met at LHS at 5 a.m.
“I was extremely tired waking up so early,” sophomore Cayden Chapman said. “However, that is part of a sacrifice and dedication you have to give if you want a successful team.”
They went over what they would be doing for the next seven hours before leaving to arrowhead. After arriving at the stadium, they were given coats and instruction of how to attempt an organized way of parking thousands of cars. After a short meeting, they were ready to go.

As they begun to work, it didn’t take long to realize the weather conditions were far from ideal.
“It was definitely a memorable experience parking cars in the frigid cold rain and I wish I was better prepared because it was painfully cold and I thought I was going to get frostbite,” Chapman said.
After the many hours in the rain, one of the few advantages was the opportunity to watch the Chiefs game for free after parking. Many people decided to watch the game from the comforts of their house. The people who stayed were able to enjoy a 30-22 Chiefs win, but not everyone thought the game made up for the hours of labor.
“The Chiefs game was fun but I don’t think it was worth it,” sophomore Jared Ezzell said.
Despite the harsh combination of frigid temperatures and a steady flow of rain, the team pushed through it and was able make it a success as they collected enough money for new warmups for the 2016 tennis season.
